Millions of girls in Asia and Africa are married off as young as 11—and then suffer unspeakable physical harm (fistula) and emotional trauma when forced to give birth too early. This typically means their husbands abandon them and they are unable to heal without surgery and counseling. Providing medical care and teaching them a job skill like tailoring help restore their dignity. After completing the tailoring course at one of our four centers, each girl receives a sewing machine and support to begin a brand new life.
